Meghan Markle has been accused of having “no right” to set foot on royal property during her brief UK trip, with a TV presenter claiming she “got her way as usual”. The Duchess of Sussex visited Highgrove House alongside Prince Harry and their children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, for a private reunion with King Charles and Queen Camilla on Friday.
Royal reunion at Highgrove
The family gathering lasted over an hour, according to reports, though no official details or photographs have been released. This marks the first time the Sussexes have returned to the UK together since 2022, with Harry having made solo trips since then due to security concerns. The meeting has been viewed by many as a positive step toward reconciliation between the King and his youngest son.
Criticism from Mark Dolan
However, not everyone welcomed the move. TalkTV presenter Mark Dolan expressed his disapproval, telling Sky News Australia's Paul Murray: “The Sussexes have won. Meghan Markle back on royal property. It’s my understanding that William is furious about this. Why? Because it’s a reward for the treachery, disloyalty and the cruelty of Harry and Meghan.”
Dolan continued: “Charles wants to see his grandchildren, I understand that, but I think that Harry and Meghan had no right to be on a royal property. They got their way as usual.” His comments reflect ongoing tensions stemming from the couple’s criticisms of the monarchy since stepping back from royal duties six years ago.
Details of the visit
It is believed the family-of-four did not stay at Highgrove. Instead, they are rumoured to have stayed at Althorp House, the ancestral home of Princess Diana, where her brother Charles Spencer still resides. Harry may have taken his children to visit their late grandmother’s resting place on the Althorp Estate, alongside Meghan.
The visit comes amid ongoing security concerns for the Sussexes, which have prevented them from travelling together to the UK more frequently. Harry has cited these concerns as the primary reason for his solo visits in recent years.
