Married At First Sight's Filip Gregov and Stella Mickunaite have revealed the chaotic reality behind the show's couples retreat, describing it as an 'absolute war zone'. The retreat, intended to help cast members reconnect and mend relationships, instead spiralled into division and tension.
Speaking to Daily Mail, Filip explained that the first night appeared promising, with cast members enjoying pizza and seemingly putting aside their differences. 'Bec was getting along with Gia. Alissa and Gia made up. Everyone was hanging around the pizza ovens having a good feed,' he said.
However, the mood shifted dramatically after a controversial remark by Bec, which Filip described as being in 'pretty poor taste'. 'That literally just set up epic division from then on,' he added. The comment sparked a chain reaction, leading to alliances forming and tensions escalating over the following days.
Stella admitted the experience was emotionally draining, with the constant filming and lack of privacy taking a toll. 'You don't have a switch button while you're there. You're always miked, always filmed. There's no time to wind down or gather your thoughts,' she said. She also revealed that the intense environment triggered personal insecurities, including fears of abandonment.
Despite the surrounding chaos, the couple managed to protect their relationship by carving out time alone. 'We would wake up quite early just to have a little bit of peace and quiet for ourselves,' Filip said. 'We protect our time and our energy. We always have each other's back.'
