Married At First Sight Australia star Gia Fleur has broken her silence on rumours she lost her job as a nurse due to her controversial behaviour on the show. Speaking on Australia's Villain Edit podcast, she denied being fired and revealed she had not worked in that field for years.
Gia, who appeared on the 2026 series, was listed on the show as a 'Disability Support Worker', but she said this was inaccurate. She explained: 'I was in property development. I was flipping houses. That’s what I was doing. But it didn’t look good for them, I guess, to put that as my job title, so they ran with the disability support.'
Her on-screen marriage to Scott McCristal ended explosively, and she was branded a 'villain' by viewers. However, Gia insisted she had not worked in the disability support role for around six years before applying for the show.
In contrast, fellow MAFS participant Bec was less fortunate. She lost her job as an Account Manager after her behaviour aired. Bec stated: 'After my abhorrent behaviour at dinner party three was aired, my employer, the very next day, suggested I don’t come back after MAFS had finished airing.' She was subsequently dismissed.
