Lorna Luxe Shares Positive Hair Update Amid Androgenetic Alopecia Journey
Influencer Lorna Luxe, 43, has provided an encouraging update on her hair condition during a recent salon visit, expressing delight at visible improvements in root density. The social media personality, who has been transparent about her struggles with androgenetic alopecia, posted a video clip for her followers while consulting with her hairdresser.
Visible Progress in Hair Density
In the footage, Lorna demonstrated her new hair growth, stating: 'I've got to be honest. The density of this bit here is way better. I feel like I've done my homework, I feel like I've done all the right things.' She added with genuine enthusiasm: 'But I am genuinely, like, when I put my hands through my hair it just feels a bit more fuller here.'
Accompanying the clip, she wrote on social media: 'It's a bit of a journey is androgenic alopecia as so many factors affect it, but all things considered the density in the root has improved no end I'm so chuffed.'
Understanding Androgenetic Alopecia
Androgenetic alopecia, commonly known as pattern hair loss, represents a hereditary form of hair loss influenced by genetic factors and androgen hormones, particularly DHT. According to Alopecia UK, this condition involves progressive shrinkage of hair follicles, resulting in characteristic patterns such as receding hairlines and crown thinning in men, and diffuse thinning of the crown area in women.
Lorna's Hair Care Transformation
Last year, Lorna discussed her hair journey with HELLO! magazine, revealing how her approach to hair care has evolved significantly. She explained: 'Up until five or so years ago, I treated my hair like an afterthought and something I was deeply embarrassed of. I have androgenic alopecia, which is gradual hair thinning, so rather than take care of the hair I had [left], I preferred to tie it up and ignore it.'
The influencer credited the COVID-19 lockdown period with providing the opportunity to address her hair concerns proactively. 'In lockdown, I had the time to tackle the problem head-on, and so I went to a trichologist, and that’s really where my hair story begins,' she shared.
Comprehensive Hair Care Regimen
Lorna has developed a multifaceted approach to managing her hair health:
- Supplement Focus: She has become 'big on supplements' and reports noticeable improvements since incorporating them into her routine.
- Hydration Priority: The influencer regularly uses her Hydra Bond Hydrating Masque from her minimalist brand 98 Beauty, which retails for £35, to maintain hair strength and robustness.
- Early Intervention: Many of her hair concerns originated in her 20s, prompting years of dedicated effort to improve hair condition.
Lorna advises others to 'hair mask the heck' out of their hair, emphasizing that hydration remains crucial for maintaining strong, healthy hair regardless of age.
Personal Life Developments
The hair update coincides with Lorna's recent relocation to a new £2 million rental property, following unexpected circumstances that forced her to leave her previous residence. She previously lived in the notable £2.5 million Ghost House with her late husband John, but the couple had to vacate the property last year due to flooding.
In a social media post from her new home, designed by BPN Architects (the same team behind their Warwickshire mansion), Lorna wrote: 'It's safe to say I feel so much happier in this home than the last place... all this light is doing my mood the world of good.'
She acknowledged the move had been 'stressful' but expressed satisfaction with the outcome, noting: 'John would love it, because he loved this house. It was designed by the same guy who designed our Ghost House so its got that nice feel about it.'
John, a retired banker who had been battling stage four adrenal cancer for several years, passed away in February. Lorna reflected on her resilience during the transition, stating: 'John would be so proud that I pulled it off and found me and Bear an even better gaff to 'temporarily' call home.'
