Influencer Lorna Luxe Returns to Public Life After Husband's Cancer Death
Popular fashion influencer Lorna Luxe has made her first public appearance following the tragic death of her husband, businessman John Andrews, last month. The 43-year-old returned to social media earlier this week, revealing that her husband's funeral had taken place and describing it as a beautiful celebration of his life.
Emotional Return to Social Media
In her first social media post since her husband's passing, Lorna told her followers: "I haven't spoken to you in so long. I have been looking through my messages and I keep getting this consistent message from people saying they miss me and hope I'm alright. And I thought I miss you guys too - so here I am."
She continued with emotional details about the funeral: "We had John's funeral yesterday and it was beautiful. It really was beautiful. People I'd not seen in a long time turned up. I knew we'd have a good turn out because people loved John."
The couple had been married for 16 years, with John being 21 years Lorna's senior. He had been battling stage four adrenal cancer since his diagnosis in April 2023, with Lorna announcing his death on February 12.
First Public Outing at Cheltenham Festival
Now, Lorna has stepped out publicly for the first time since her husband's passing, attending this year's Cheltenham Festival with a friend on Friday. She wore a sophisticated race day ensemble featuring:
- A crisp white shirt
- A brown tie
- High-waisted tailored trousers
- A tan checked trench coat
The outfit was from Holland Cooper, whose owners had invited her to the event. This marked a significant moment in her return to public life following her period of mourning.
Symbolic Bet Win Brings Emotional Moment
In a heartfelt video posted on Saturday morning, Lorna shared an emotional story about her experience at the races. She explained how designer Amanda Wakeley encouraged her to place a bet, leading to what she described as a spiritual connection with her late husband.
"She said, look, one of the horses is called Johnny's Jewellery," Lorna recounted. "She was like, 'shall we have a go, shall we have a punt?' And it was a bit of an outside one, it didn't have odds on to win."
Lorna placed £20 each way on the horse, while Amanda placed £40 each way. To their surprise, the horse won. "Anyway, it won, it flipping won. So we were buzzing," she said, explaining that she won approximately £250 while her friend won £500-600.
"It was just such a John... It was just brilliant, it really made me smile," Lorna said through tears. "I'm teary now just thinking about it. So yeah, I thought I'd share that with you and yeah, it was just a lovely day. I really, really enjoyed it, even though he wasn't there with me, he felt like he was there in spirit."
Heartbreaking Tribute and Future Plans
When announcing John's death last month, Lorna shared a heartbreaking tribute on social media: "My beautiful, brave John died yesterday. I am heartbroken. We were together to the very end, at home, in our own bed and holding hands which is exactly what he wanted."
She revealed their last conversation: "The last conversation we had I asked him how he was feeling and he replied 'rough but in love' and that was so him, to the point and choosing to put aside his fears to make me feel cherished and loved."
Looking forward, Lorna plans to focus on a charity sale that had been postponed due to John's illness. "For the next week I am going to focus on getting this charity sale happening as we postponed it due to how poorly John was," she explained. "He died within five days of what should have been that sale. It will be a lovely way to remember him."
The event aims to raise money for Maggie's cancer charity and The Meath Epilepsy Charity. Lorna added: "So that is what I will be working on and I think that is what I need at the minute. I need to be busy and doing things. I am going to see my mates and not stay at home too much."
She concluded her social media return by thanking her followers: "But I am really grateful for all the messages, so thank you to all of you for being exactly what I've needed, so thank you."
