Liverpool Hosts Africa Oye and On The Waterfront Festivals

Liverpool played host to two major events over the weekend: Africa Oye and On The Waterfront, drawing large crowds and creating a vibrant atmosphere across the city.

Africa Oye Returns to Sefton Park

Africa Oye, the UK's largest celebration of African music and culture, returned to Sefton Park on Saturday, June 20, and Sunday, June 21. The event featured music from across Africa and the Caribbean, dance performances, a dedicated family zone, and over 90 stalls offering food, drink, and more. Originating as a series of gigs in Liverpool city centre in 1992, Africa Oye has called Sefton Park home since 2002.

On The Waterfront Festival

Liverpool's waterfront also hosted the return of On The Waterfront music festival from Thursday, June 18, to Sunday, June 21. The festival kicked off with a performance from Mod legend Paul Weller on Thursday. Friday saw Merseyside band Red Rum Club headline, with frontman Fran Doran addressing the crowd: “Being from this city … your support means so, so much to us.” On Saturday, Cream Classical celebrated 10 years of live events with a huge show. Snow Patrol closed the event on Sunday with their headline performance.
