Lewis Capaldi has revealed that he auditioned for Britain's Got Talent but was ultimately rejected. The Scottish singer made the admission during an interview with Amanda Holden and Jamie Theakston on Heart Radio on Tuesday morning.
The 23-year-old chart-topper told Holden, who is also a judge on the talent show, that he attended auditions and sang 'White Blank Page' by Mumford & Sons. He recalled being told by producers that his performance was 'great' and 'lovely', and that they would try to put him through.
However, Capaldi said he never received a follow-up phone call. 'Then I got a phone call saying, "Lewis that was great we're going to put you through, and we're going to try and hurry it through." Then I never received another phone call again,' he explained.
In response, Holden gasped and said, 'OMG we turned down Lewis Capaldi!' The singer joked that he was told Holden 'hates you, on a molecular level she despises you.'
The revelation comes after Capaldi was forced to stop his Edinburgh gig at Usher Hall on Thursday night when a fight broke out in the crowd. He demanded that 'all the a**holes' be removed before continuing his performance.
