Lee Andrews has broken his social media silence to reveal he was 'captured at gunpoint' before being imprisoned in Dubai. The 43-year-old, who is married to Katie Price, was released from Al Awir prison last week after a month-long detention.
Lee's Ordeal
Taking to Instagram on Tuesday, June 16, Andrews claimed he was taken by men with assault rifles near the Hatta-Oman border. 'They did slap me around a little bit, little s***s, and I was hand-tied, shackled and also had a hood over my head,' he said. He alleged he was then taken to a black site, an extended arm of the National Guard.
Andrews, who now sports a new head of thick black hair, insisted his imprisonment was not due to fraud but because he was suspected of being a spy. He has since signed disclaimers and waivers with UAE authorities.
Background
Andrews had been due to fly to the UK for a joint interview on Good Morning Britain with Katie Price but was denied at the gate. He went silent for two weeks, leading Price to fear he had been kidnapped. It later emerged he was in Al Awir prison, sharing cells with Irish gangland criminal Daniel Kinahan.
Dubai authorities debunked his spy claims, stating he was jailed for a private civil matter. Police confirmed he was imprisoned for four weeks on suspicion of fraud. Andrews thanked British authorities and his wife for 'making such a noise' about the incident. Price responded, 'My husband is back, I love you.'
