A celebrity make-up artist has shared a simple technique to prevent foundation from creasing on mature skin, promising a flawless finish without heavy product. Katie Jane Hughes, 41, originally from England and now based in New York, described the method as 'the best trick I could ever teach you' for applying concealer.
In a TikTok video, Hughes advised using a full-coverage concealer and a concealer brush, also known as an eyeshadow brush. She demonstrated dabbing concealer on the back of her hand and 'smooshing' the brush bristles into it until most of the product is absorbed, then gently sweeping it over areas needing coverage, such as redness around the nose and mouth.
Hughes emphasised that this technique works best when combined with nightly facial cleansing using a cloth to exfoliate the skin. She warned against applying thick foundation around the nose, as it can crease more quickly. 'This is probably the most viral trick I've ever taught,' she said, adding that those who have tried it find it 'amazing'.
