Kimberly Wyatt, the 44-year-old Pussycat Dolls singer, has revealed that she will not be appearing on Strictly Come Dancing, stating that the show “won’t have me” and that “the public would hate me.” Speaking exclusively at the premiere of her new film Jackie the Stripper, where she plays a barmaid, Wyatt opened up about her career and personal challenges.
Wyatt’s Strictly Come Dancing Ban
When asked about the possibility of joining the BBC ballroom dance competition, Wyatt was unequivocal: “They won’t have me, and the public would hate me. It’s true.” The singer, who previously competed on ITV’s Dancing On Ice in 2022, expressed her love for learning new things but made it clear that Strictly is not in her future.
Wyatt’s husband, Max Rogers, was also present at the premiere and commented on her MasterChef victory in 2015, where she defeated Rylan Clark and Sam Nixon despite having no cooking experience. “It is ridiculous. I used to be the chef of the house. She goes and wins MasterChef. That was amazing,” he said.
Hip Replacement Recovery
Wyatt also opened up about her “dreadful” recovery from hip replacement surgery two and a half years ago. “I had no quality of life, I couldn’t sleep, I couldn’t walk. I was limping, continuing to work, and I kept it from everybody,” she revealed. Despite the challenges, she has been rehabilitating and continues to listen to her body. She draws inspiration from tennis pro Andy Murray and ballerina Misty Copeland, both of whom returned to peak performance after hip replacements. “They both had hip replacements and they kept going and winning, so hopefully I can do the same,” she said.
New Projects and Challenges
Wyatt, who is a mother of three, remains open to new opportunities. “I always keep my mind open to new ideas for the challenge. I think in an atmosphere like that, you learn a lot about yourself that you just never normally would, had you not had that experience,” she explained. “But more than anything, I like my craft, I love kind of diving into characters and storytelling, and all those facets are what excite me about my future.”
To prepare for her role in Jackie the Stripper, Wyatt used her dance experience and kickboxing skills to perform a fight scene. “It was pretty intense, but I was well up for it,” she added.
