Kim Kardashian's Dramatic Fall at Oscars Afterparty in High Heels
Kim Kardashian experienced a shocking tumble while arriving at the Vanity Fair Oscars afterparty, twisting her ankle and grabbing onto an elderly woman for support. The reality television star, aged 45, was wearing a restrictive gold Gucci dress and $80 eight-inch heels that contributed to the mishap.
Fashion Choices Lead to Painful Mishap
In a video shared on her TikTok account, Kardashian was seen stumbling and falling into a hedge, desperately latching onto a passerby to break her fall. The tightness of her designer dress limited her leg movement, while the extreme height of her gold heels made walking precarious. Multiple members of her team, including friend Stephanie Shepherd, rushed to assist her in getting back on her feet.
After the fall, Kardashian apologised profusely to the woman she had grabbed, exclaiming, "Ah, sorry, my ankle! Sorry!" She attempted to walk on the injured ankle herself, saying, "Wait, let me try to walk on it..." but later expressed concern for the passerby, remarking, "F***, that poor lady, I grabbed her. I grabbed that old lady's like box."
Red Carpet Recovery and Fan Reactions
Despite the painful incident, Kardashian managed to proceed onto the red carpet, posing for photographs with striking blue contact lenses. Fans on social media praised her glamorous appearance, with one commenting that she was "slaying the Vanity Fair entrance as always" and another noting she looked "super glamorous and sparkling in gold."
However, many observers were critical of her fashion choices, questioning the practicality of such attire. One user wrote online, "Kim Kardashian, who can barely walk with those shoes and that dress, arrives at the Vanity Fair #Oscars party." Another added, "lol the walk is just crazy?" while a third stated, "She doesn't look comfortable in the shoes as her steps feel forced but she looks good." A further comment asked, "Why do girls wear clothes they aren’t even able to walk in?"
Family Presence and Oscars Context
Kardashian attended the event with her mother Kris Jenner and sisters Kendall and Kylie Jenner. Kylie arrived in a slinky black dress accompanied by her boyfriend Timothee Chalamet, who was nominated for Best Actor but lost to Michael B. Jordan for his role in Sinners. Jordan's win marked a historic moment as only the sixth Black actor to receive the award, following Sidney Poitier, Denzel Washington, Jamie Foxx, Forest Whitaker, and Will Smith.
The film Sinners, a vampire story set in the Jim Crow southern United States, also made history with Autumn Durald Arakpaw becoming the first woman and first woman of colour to win the Best Cinematography award.
