Reality television star Khloe Kardashian has directly addressed persistent speculation about her relationship with ex-fiancé Tristan Thompson, firmly stating they are not romantically involved.
Setting the Record Straight on Co-Parenting
During an episode of her popular podcast, Khloe In Wonder Land, the 41-year-old founder of Good American responded to a fan's question about rekindling her romance with the professional basketball player. Khloe explicitly stated they do not 'get together' and she has no intention of reviving their past relationship.
'I think what I find so funny is that people are always like, "How do you let Tristan back in?" And I'm like, "Well, Tristan is not back in,"' Khloe told her listeners. She elaborated that his presence in her life is solely based on their shared children. 'He's just the father of my kids, so he's going to be around his kids and I'm really grateful that he is.'
The mother of two, who shares daughter True, seven, and son Tatum, three, with Thompson, expressed her full support for their co-parenting dynamic. 'I love that he has a great relationship with his kids,' she said. 'I think that's a beautiful blessing and I'm never going to get in the way of that. I think it's so important for that relationship to maintain and be as strong as possible.'
A Traumatic Revelation About Lamar Odom
This discussion about her current co-parenting situation came shortly after Khloe shared a deeply personal and painful story from her past marriage to former NBA player Lamar Odom. On a previous episode of her podcast, she revealed that Odom, now 46, destroyed her most prized personal possessions.
Khloe disclosed that Odom burned all of her personal diaries in a fire right in front of her, an act she described as 'traumatic'. The incident occurred during their marriage, at a time when Odom was struggling with drug addiction and paranoia.
'He was incredibly paranoid and found these journals that he knew I did all the time and was reading them and just was convinced that I was like, taking notes and sending them to the government or something crazy,' Kardashian explained.
The loss was devastating for the star, for whom journaling was an 'incredibly therapeutic' process. 'Everything was in these journals,' she said. 'It was years of my life in these journals, and they meant so much to me.' She recalled her visceral reaction: 'I remember sobbing, tears streaming down my face. I could remember me on my knees, screaming.'
The Lasting Impact and Moving Forward
This destructive event had a profound and lasting effect on Khloe. The experience made her abandon journaling altogether. 'Because I just felt like, wow, that was taken away in a blink, and what was the point?' she shared. 'I'm not going to start a journal again and have someone destroy it... It's more, I'm going to say traumatic for me, but I just don't even want to open that up again.'
This led to a significant shift in her perspective on material possessions. 'I think it just made me [realise] … you don't get to really keep anything in this world, and it's, maybe that's OK,' Khloe reflected. 'I used to hold onto all these things, and sometimes I will write something, but then just throw it away. I don't try to replace what I once had.'
Despite this change, she expressed a sense of loss for the practice itself. 'I wish I had those books just to see like, what were my thoughts then,' she admitted. 'That's the special part of journaling — you look back, I don't know, five years, 10 years, two years, and you're like, "Wow, I was such an idiot. What was I writing about?" Or, "I can't believe that mattered to me the way it did then." It's such a beautiful process to do, and so I do hate that I don't do it anymore.'
Khloe Kardashian and Lamar Odom had a whirlwind romance, meeting in 2009 and marrying after just one month. She filed for divorce in 2013, though she famously came to his aid after his near-fatal overdose in 2015. Their divorce was finalised in 2016.
