Kelly Osbourne's Heartfelt Grammys Tribute to Late Father Ozzy
Kelly Osbourne was overcome with emotion during a poignant tribute to her late father, rock legend Ozzy Osbourne, at the 68th Grammy Awards in Los Angeles. The reality television star, aged 41, candidly admitted she is still struggling profoundly with grief following his passing in July of last year.
An Emotional Family Gathering
Attending the prestigious ceremony at the Crypto.com Arena, Kelly was supported by her mother Sharon, brother Jack, and her fiancé, Sid Wilson. The family presented a united front, with Kelly visibly shaken during the memorial segments dedicated to her father. Sharon Osbourne was seen comforting her daughter, dabbing at her own eyes, while Jack maintained a solemn composure.
In an interview with PEOPLE magazine, Kelly opened up about the immense difficulty of her loss. "That's the hardest thing I've ever been through in my life," she confessed. "But I have my man, and I have my gorgeous baby, and my mom and my brother and I are so bonded. I didn't think we could ever get more bonded, but we did."
Rejecting the Facade of Being 'Fine'
Kelly was notably honest about her emotional state, directly challenging the societal pressure to appear okay after a bereavement. "People usually say, 'I'm great' months after a death of a loved one, but I'm not doing so great," she stated. "I won't be one of those people that say I'm fine because I'm not."
Personal Rituals to Honour a Legend
To cope with her grief and keep her father's spirit close, Kelly has established several intimate daily rituals. She revealed that she always lights a candle in Ozzy's memory and ensures there is an empty seat at her table in his honour.
Perhaps most touchingly, she wears a special locket containing his picture. "It's under my dress, you can't see it, but it has his picture in it, and my baby opens it every day and gives it a kiss and says hi to Papa," Kelly shared. She also finds comfort in small signs, adding, "And every time I see the clock at 11:11, I know that's him talking to me."
Yungblud's Touching Musical Homage
The Grammys featured multiple tributes to Ozzy Osbourne, including a powerful homage from singer Yungblud. The Doncaster-born artist, whose real name is Dominic Harrison, performed a version of Ozzy's song "Changes" at what was the Black Sabbath frontman's final concert.
Yungblud, who won the Grammy for Best Rock Performance for that rendition, spoke emotionally on stage about his relationship with his idol-turned-mentor. "To grow up loving an idol who helps you figure out your identity, not only as a musician, but also as a man, is something I'm really grateful for," he said.
He continued, paying direct tribute: "But to then get to know them and honour them at their final show and receive this is something I am struggling to comprehend. We love you Ozzy." Yungblud recalled their last meeting, noting Ozzy's humility: "The last time I saw Ozzy Osbourne, he asked me if there was anything he could do for me, and that the 'music was enough'. God bless Ozzy Osbourne."
The friendship between the two musicians, which began in 2022, clearly meant a great deal to the younger artist, making his Grammy win a bittersweet moment that underscored the lasting legacy of the Birmingham rock legend.
