Kelly Osbourne has revealed the real reason she has left Los Angeles and moved to the UK, after enduring what she described as the "worst year ever". The 41-year-old, who lost her father Ozzy Osbourne two years ago, grew up in LA with her famous family, finding fame in the reality show The Osbournes alongside her brother Jack.
Loss and grief
The Black Sabbath frontman died in 2024, leaving wife Sharon and his six children bereft. Kelly, a mother of one, was hit particularly hard by the loss and shocked fans when she appeared at the BRIT Awards earlier this year looking painfully thin. The outspoken star, who recently split from Slipknot fiancé Sid Wilson, faced a barrage of abuse online after photos from the awards show went viral.
A different childhood for Sidney
As she continues to grieve, Kelly — who admits she was "too thin" but has since put on two stone — wants to be closer to Ozzy's grave. She has also decided she does not want her four-year-old son Sidney to have the same childhood she did, choosing instead to make England their home.
Speaking about her decision to leave Hollywood, where her brother Jack still lives with his family, she told The Sun: "I want my son to have a different childhood to mine. At first, when he was younger and we were on the road a lot [with Sidney’s dad’s band Slipknot], I was like: ‘This is great. He gets to grow up just like me.’ And then I thought: ‘No, this actually isn’t healthy for him and this is exposing him to too much. I’ve got to get him home.’"
She added: "We always said that if we ever have a child, he’s going to be raised in England." Kelly also expressed concern about gun culture in the US, which has led to a number of school shootings in the country.
Settling into village life
Sidney, who often appears with his mum on her YouTube videos, is now attending the same school Kelly went to in the UK before the Osbournes moved to Los Angeles. Embracing her role as an "English village mum", she shared: "I am so involved in the school. PTA meetings, events, all of it. I never thought I would be this type of mum, but I love all of it. I go to everything school-related."
As she adjusts to village life, Kelly is also adjusting to single life after splitting from DJ Sid earlier this year. The couple have yet to comment officially on the breakup. However, sharing a cryptic quote after the news broke, Kelly posted: "I am in love with this sentence: 'Forgive yourself for not knowing earlier what only time could teach'."
