Kate Garraway Praises Children's 'Extraordinary Bravery' Ahead of GMB Return

Kate Garraway has praised the 'extraordinary bravery' of her children ahead of her return to ITV's Good Morning Britain, following the funeral of her husband Derek Draper. Speaking via video from home, she described her family's emotions as 'at 110%' after the service on Friday.

Draper, a former political lobbyist-turned-psychologist, died in January after suffering extreme complications from Covid. Garraway will return to hosting the show on Thursday alongside Ben Shephard.

In an emotional interview, Garraway recalled a 'stop the clock' moment when she learned her husband was dying. She shared that her 17-year-old daughter Darcey told her father: 'Don't worry about us, don't worry about mum. We'll be fine because you live on through us.' Darcey also insisted on being a pallbearer at the funeral, which Garraway described as 'a beautiful thing'.

Garraway said she was grateful for the 'unbelievable love' from viewers and messages from unexpected places, including a handwritten letter from David and Victoria Beckham and a letter from the Royal Family. She noted that the King understands 'anticipatory grief'.

On her return, Garraway joked about looking forward to a blow-dry and said she would be 'a bit rusty' but added: 'Life has to start. We have to pick ourselves up and go on. That's what Derek would want me to do.'
