Jelly Roll to Donate Grammy to Nashville Jail as Inspiration

Jelly Roll has announced plans to donate one of his three Grammy Awards to a local jail in Nashville, Tennessee. The country singer, whose real name is Jason Bradley DeFord, won trophies for Best Country Album, Best Country/Duo Group Performance, and Best Contemporary Christian Music Performance at the recent ceremony.

Speaking to Entertainment Tonight alongside Sarah Michelle Gellar, the 'Bloodline' singer said he would keep one Grammy in his studio and give another to the local jail. 'I think I’m going to give the second one to the country sheriff Daron Hall to put in the jail,' he stated.

Jelly Roll has been open about his criminal past, including multiple arrests and a prison sentence for aggravated robbery. He has said that music and faith helped turn his life around, and he hopes the donated Grammy will inspire inmates.

In his acceptance speech for Best Country Album, he recalled a time when he was incarcerated with only a Bible and a radio, believing they could change his life. 'Jesus is for everybody,' he added.
