James McAvoy is a regular at a Glasgow cake shop, where his favourite order has been revealed as a slice of school cake. The Scottish actor, known for his role in X-Men, visited Lily Bakes Cakes on Hyndland Street in the city's West End on Sunday, November 1.
Baker shares photo with famous regular
The shop is run by self-taught baker Lily and is open only at weekends. After working up the courage to ask for a picture with her famous customer, Lily posted the photo on Instagram. In the caption, she wrote: "Our regular was back in today, and this time I was brave enough to ask for his picture! @jamesmcavoyrealdeal."
She added: "We are so honoured to have him and his gorgeous wife come visit us again.. and if anyone’s wondering, his order is a slice of school cake of course!!"
Star praises the bakes
The 47-year-old actor responded in the comments, writing: "Love your bakes Lily." Fans were delighted to see the pair together, with one commenting: "Legends meeting legends," and another writing: "I would die! That is amazing!!!!"
The Hyndland Street store first opened in 2021 and has since had regular queues outside its green and pink store every weekend. Customers can enjoy treats such as cookies, truffles and millionaire shortbreads, along with hot drinks. Lily updates the menu each week on Instagram.
Tribute to Sir Patrick Stewart
McAvoy's visit came shortly after he paid tribute to his long-time friend and colleague Sir Patrick Stewart, who passed away at the age of 86 following a "brief and poignant journey with Alzheimer’s disease and Lewy Body Dementia". In an Instagram post, McAvoy wrote: "Wherever you’re going I know you’ll go boldly… I was lucky enough to work with Sir Patrick a number of times and he was always lovely to me."
