Katie Price's husband Lee Andrews may not have been kidnapped at all, according to a former police officer and investigative journalist who has cast doubt on the dramatic story. Mark Williams-Thomas, who has worked on high-profile missing persons cases, said the Dubai-based businessman appears to be 'playing some ridiculous game' and suggested the abduction claim does not add up.
Williams-Thomas pointed to several inconsistencies in Andrews' account, including the fact that he allegedly made a FaceTime call to Price while being held captive but did not ask her to call the police. 'He had a hood over his head, his hands were tied... and he himself didn't phone the police,' Williams-Thomas said. He also noted that Andrews' phone has since gone dead, but someone has accessed his social media to delete posts.
The investigator questioned whether the matter had been reported to Dubai police and what action was being taken. 'If it's a potential kidnap, they'd be treating it as really serious,' he added. The Sun reported that Andrews' WhatsApp status showed he was last online on Saturday, May 16, at 17:56 – days after his alleged abduction on Wednesday, May 13. An insider said: 'Three days after he was “taken” he was using his phone. It doesn’t add up.'
Further doubts have been raised by a source who claimed Andrews had been bragging in the weeks before his disappearance that he was an international arms dealer. 'He boasted repeatedly... that he worked with dangerous people. He bragged about it, and then he gets kidnapped,' the source told The Sun. 'It’s almost as if he’s been writing a storyline.'
Katie Price had earlier said she last spoke to Andrews on Wednesday evening and that his location went off at 10.03pm. She said she was 'worried' and that her messages were not going through. However, Williams-Thomas dismissed the kidnapping theory, saying: 'Clearly this is a man who's got some serious issues.'
