Elon Musk's artificial intelligence chatbot, Grok, has been compelled to refute claims that the tech billionaire is the father of Amber Heard's three children, following a surge of inquiries about their paternity. Musk, 54, and Heard, 40, had an on-and-off relationship from 2016 to 2018, and speculation has long persisted that he is the biological father of her daughter Oonagh Paige, five, who was born via surrogate, as well as twins Agnes and Ocean, aged 12 months.
This week, the Daily Mail revealed Heard's new life in Spain, where she has retreated from Hollywood and fame to focus on raising her two daughters and son as a single mother. Renewed interest in the Aquaman actress prompted X/Twitter users to ask Grok whether it could clarify the identity of her children's father, which Heard has never publicly disclosed.
Grok, developed by Musk's artificial intelligence company xAI, has provided varied responses, all centering on the fact that 'rumors link it to Elon Musk from their 2016-2018 relationship and a reported old embryo dispute, but there's zero official confirmation from her or him. That's the full public/official story.' The embryo dispute references a 2022 declaration by a Heard family friend, who alleged that the actress and the SpaceX founder were engaged in a legal battle over their frozen embryos.
Heard's Private Life and Denials
Heard, who has maintained a low profile since her high-profile defamation battle with ex-husband Johnny Depp, is notoriously private about her children's father, insisting she fulfills both 'mom and dad' roles. A representative for the actress previously denied that Musk is the father, calling the rumors '100 percent false,' while Musk himself has not commented on the claims.
However, the 2022 declaration, signed by a close friend of Heard's sister Whitney, claimed that Heard and Musk had planned to have children together. Jennifer Howell alleged that Heard was 'in a legal battle with [Musk] over embryos they had created together... He wanted to destroy them, and Amber tried to keep them to have a baby.' Howell's testimony was not admitted as evidence in the Depp v. Heard trial, as Heard's lawyers argued it had been improperly obtained by the opposing legal team. They later accused one of Depp's attorneys of leaking the document to the press.
Rumors Amplified During Depp Trial
Rumors that Musk had fathered Heard's child were rampant during the Depp trial, fueled by Howell's claims. Howell, who considered herself Heard's sister's 'chosen sister,' made allegations that Whitney described as 'complete fiction,' leading to their exclusion from court proceedings. Howell also claimed that Heard's mother, Paige, described Musk as 'controlling and abusive,' adding that Depp was 'an angel or a saint in comparison.' Later, Howell said the charity she ran received an anonymous $250,000 donation 'on behalf of Amber Heard,' which she believed at the time was made by Musk.
Musk's Expanding Family
Speculation about Musk's children with Heard resurfaced last year following a report that the billionaire—now father to at least 14 children by four women—is intent on producing a 'legion' of offspring and has established confidential financial arrangements with several mothers. The latest mother revealed was Ashley St Clair, a 27-year-old MAGA influencer, who claims she was offered $15 million upfront and $100,000 per month to keep silent about their son.
'Multiple sources close to the tech entrepreneur said they believe the true number of Musk's children is much higher than publicly known,' according to the Wall Street Journal. The report detailed Musk's affinity for surrogates, allegedly with the goal of building a 'legion' of offspring 'before the apocalypse.' 'I mean, you know, you've got to walk the talk. So, I do have a lot of kids, and I encourage others to have lots of kids,' Musk said in 2024.
Musk's Sperm Donation Offers
According to the publication, Musk is open to providing his sperm to women he is not romantically involved with. In one instance, he was allegedly approached by 'Japanese officials [who] asked him to be a sperm donor for a high-profile woman.' St. Clair claimed Musk agreed to the proposal. 'They want me to be a sperm donor. No romance or anything, just sperm,' he allegedly texted St. Clair while discussing the offer.
In another case, he allegedly contacted cryptocurrency influencer Tiffany Fong after stumbling upon her X account. After weeks of interacting with her content, he allegedly proposed they have a child together, even though they had never met in person. Fong allegedly turned down the proposal, envisioning a traditional nuclear family for herself.
The publication also named Musk's confidante, Jared Birchall, as his 'fixer' who handles negotiations with women the world's richest man chooses to have children with. Birchall allegedly discusses monetary offers and details the rules of the agreement, with discretion being of utmost importance. St. Clair alleged that Birchall told her: 'We have been through way too many issues where, to not sign some agreement associated with handing over 15-plus million dollars is absolutely insane and irresponsible. We have dealt with some very unstable, mentally unstable, people that all of a sudden misremember things.' According to St. Clair, Birchall indicated that other women have signed such secrecy agreements.
Musk's Known Children
Musk is publicly known to have children with four women: six with his ex-wife Justine, three with singer Grimes, four with former employee Shivon Zilis, and one with St. Clair. The publication stated: 'A person familiar with Musk's thinking on the agreements with the mothers of his children said that Musk believes it is better to resolve these matters behind closed doors for the safety and security of the child.'
In January of this year, Musk wrote on social media that he is applying for custody of his youngest child after St. Clair made comments in support of the trans community. Musk replied to concerned users on X, announcing his intentions to gain custody of one-year-old Romulus. He tweeted: 'I will be filing for full custody today, given her statements implying she might transition a one-year-old boy.' St. Clair has not made any comments suggesting she would transition her son but shared posts sympathetic toward the trans community.
Heard's Journey to Motherhood
Heard revealed in July 2021 that she had welcomed a daughter, Oonagh Paige, via surrogate in April of that year. She said at the time that she had decided four years earlier—in 2017—that she wanted to have a child. 'Four years ago, I decided I wanted to have a child. I wanted to do it on my own terms,' she revealed. Sharing a photo of Oonagh, she said: 'I'm just the mom and the dad. She's the boss.'
On Mother's Day last year, she announced the arrival of twins Agnes and Ocean, writing: 'Becoming a mother by myself and on my own terms despite my own fertility challenges has been the most humbling experience of my life. I am eternally grateful that I was able to choose this responsibly and thoughtfully.'
Around the time Heard decided to have a child, she was dating Musk. The duo became friendly at the 2016 Met Gala. During the Depp trial, Heard described Musk as 'a real gentleman. He was really nice.' She added: 'He sat at a nearby table and we got to speaking that night and eventually became friends.' The pair sparked romance rumors weeks later after Heard formally filed for divorce, but by August 2017 they had split. At the time, Musk left a comment confirming the breakup on Heard's Instagram, writing: 'Although Amber and I did break up, we are still friends, remain close and love one another. Long distance relationships, when both partners have intense work obligations are always difficult, but who knows what the future holds.' The couple rekindled by late 2017 but were over once again in early 2018.
