Good Morning Britain presenter Richard Madeley has reportedly signed a six-month contract to remain on the ITV breakfast show, as the network prepares for a major reshuffle in January 2026. The 69-year-old, who joined the programme in 2021 after Piers Morgan's departure, has agreed to a temporary arrangement while ITV reviews its presenter line-up.
According to reports, the short-term deal is part of cost-cutting measures that will see programmes like Lorraine reduced to 30 minutes. A source told The Sun: 'Richard is one of the biggest names on the show, but even he hasn't been offered a long-term deal. He's signed for six more months and will then re-consider how the show looks.'
The source added that almost every prominent face on the show is in talks, with some expected to leave in the reshuffle. Decisions will depend on ratings with focus groups and salary demands. Susanna Reid remains the sole anchor guaranteed a longer-term deal.
ITV's daytime programming overhaul, effective from January 2026, will see Lorraine broadcast from 9.30am to 10am on a seasonal basis for 30 weeks annually. Loose Women will maintain its one-hour slot from 12.30pm but also operate seasonally, with plans to eliminate its live studio audience as part of cost savings.
An ITV spokesperson said the proposal to remove the studio audience from Loose Women does not mean it will never return, but that the network is exploring new ways of working when it moves to a new studio next year. Good Morning Britain airs weekdays from 6am on ITV1 and ITVX.
