Former Miss Universe Australia Rachael Finch has spoken candidly about the challenges of motherhood as she prepares to welcome her second child. The 28-year-old model, who is due in less than eight weeks, revealed that caring for a newborn left her sleep-deprived and disoriented after the birth of her first daughter, Violet.
In an interview with Pregnancy Life and Style magazine, Finch admitted that she lost track of time during those early days. 'Suddenly I was going from getting eight hours a night to three hours of broken sleep,' she said. 'I remember going to the pantry at 3am wondering if I should make breakfast or dinner.'
Finch, who has a three-year-old daughter Violet with husband Michael Miziner, also shared that her second pregnancy has been more difficult than the first. Unlike her first pregnancy, where she experienced morning sickness for only one to two weeks, this time she was ill for 12 weeks straight. 'Thankfully I'm feeling back to normal now,' she added.
The health and fitness advocate also discussed her food cravings, noting that she has been eating tomatoes 'like apples' as opposed to the Vegemite cravings she had while pregnant with Violet. Finch admitted that motherhood has taught her to trust her intuition and place less pressure on herself. She no longer worries if everything is not done on time and prioritises sleep over household chores.
Finch and her husband have released a fitness program called BOD, which includes dance-centred workouts and meal plans, including a plan specifically for pregnant women. The pregnancy plan features three dance classes a week, two dance-infused circuit classes, a stretch or meditation session, and a rest day.
