Dyfed-Powys Police have issued a warning over "inaccurate and distressing" rumours shared online following a motorbike crash on the A487 at Aberystwyth. The force confirmed that emergency services attended the incident on Wednesday afternoon, and a person was taken to hospital.
Crash Details
The road was shut in both directions from the top of Penglais Hill in Aberystwyth to Bow Street, with the Wales Air Ambulance and other emergency crews at the scene. The collision involved a single vehicle, a motorbike, and occurred at around 1.20pm on Tuesday, August 5.
Police Statement
Following the crash, social media posts incorrectly suggested that the injured person had died. In response, Dyfed-Powys Police issued a statement: "Our officers attended a single-vehicle collision involving a motorbike on the A487 between Aberystwyth and Bow Street at around 1.20pm today (Tuesday August 5). We have been made aware of social media posts circulating that suggest the motorbike rider has since died. We can confirm that this is not true. One person was taken to hospital where they are receiving treatment."
The statement added: "We urge people not to share posts of this nature as they are inaccurate and distressing."
