Diana Vickers has recalled an awkward encounter with former X Factor host Dermot O’Leary at Glastonbury, during which a confession from a friend left the presenter visibly uncomfortable. The singer, 34, rose to fame on the ITV show in 2008, finishing in fourth place.
Speaking on Metro’s podcast Just Between Us, Vickers explained how the incident unfolded backstage. Jack Guinness of The Queer Bible wanted to reunite her with O’Leary, 52, for a photo. While chatting, Jack introduced his boyfriend Ollie to O’Leary, who mistakenly thought Ollie was Vickers’ partner.
After clarifying that Ollie was Jack’s boyfriend, Ollie suddenly told O’Leary: 'She’s not my girlfriend, but we do have a sexual attraction. And we did explore it once.' Vickers said she was shocked, asking 'When?', to which Ollie replied: 'We snogged. And you only forgot that you snogged!'
Vickers added: 'Anyway, yeah, we snogged. We made out, didn’t we? And I was like, “Oh my God!”. While Dermot was stood there going—he got the ick. Dermot O’Leary got the ick, and he got weirded out, and he wandered off.'
Jack later joked: 'And it’s just a testament to how many gay guys Diana has made out with that she just doesn’t remember.' Vickers, who recently returned to music after a 12-year break with the single Ice Cream, also recounted a bizarre encounter with Leonardo DiCaprio, where she ended up watching TV alone with the actor at his home.
