Dean Gaffney Speaks Out on Katie Price's Quick-Fire Dubai Wedding
Former EastEnders star Dean Gaffney has broken his silence on close friend Katie Price's rapid marriage to businessman Lee Andrews in Dubai, offering a succinct five-word take on the situation. The actor, 48, admitted he finds the ongoing media frenzy surrounding Price's fifth wedding highly entertaining, as scrutiny over her whirlwind romance continues to mount.
'As Long As She's Happy'
In an exclusive interview with the Mirror, Gaffney revealed his perspective on Price's latest personal developments. "Whatever Katie does, even if it’s just going to the shops, it ends up being written about," he stated. "She’s been known for at least 30 years now, and you don’t sustain that level of attention without having something about you." Despite the public fascination, Gaffney emphasized his primary concern is Price's wellbeing, simply saying: "As long as she's happy."
The wedding itself occurred earlier this year, with Price tying the knot with Andrews just days after their first in-person meeting. Gaffney confessed the extensive coverage has left him keen to see what unfolds next for the pair. "As for Katie’s love life, even as a friend it keeps me entertained. Let’s see what the next installment brings," he added.
Reflections on Price's Career and Personal Life
Gaffney also praised Price's professional legacy, noting her natural talent as a model. "As a model, Katie was one of the best in the business. Not many people could do it like she did," he remarked. However, he observed that public interest has increasingly shifted towards her private affairs in recent years.
The actor expressed approval of Price's reportedly improved relationship with her ex-husband Peter Andre, highlighting the importance of co-parenting for their children. "I think it’s nice that she’s allegedly on good terms with Peter again, because when you’ve got children involved it’s important that both parents are on the same page," Gaffney said.
Gaffney's Own Life Under the Spotlight
Like Price, Gaffney is no stranger to public scrutiny. Rising to fame as Robbie Jackson on the BBC soap from 1993, his off-screen life has often attracted attention, including links to high-profile romances and a reputation for womanising. However, he is eager to dispel this image, pointing to his dedicated family life.
The father-of-two shares a close bond with his twin daughters, Charlotte and Chloe, whom he welcomed as a teenager with ex-partner Sarah Burge. "People sometimes forget that I was very young when all that happened," he explained. "I was 17 when my ex-partner fell pregnant and 18 when the girls were born and they were twins." He described it as a "proper relationship" born out of love, contrary to misconceptions about his party lifestyle.
Gaffney proudly reflected on his parenting journey, noting that one daughter has since married and started a family. "Me and their mum can look back at everything and think, considering everything we went through, we’ve actually done alright," he concluded.
Recent Career Moves and Future Prospects
Beyond his personal reflections, Gaffney recently ventured into film with his debut role in Reckless, starring alongside Vinnie Jones. He landed the part after submitting a self-taped audition while on holiday in Dubai, admitting he had enjoyed a few drinks beforehand. "I’d had a few Malibu and Cokes. So I had to run back to the apartment and do a self-tape," he recalled. The low-budget British film was shot in just three weeks, with Gaffney describing the experience as "pretty special."
As the entertainment world watches Price's marital journey unfold, Gaffney remains a supportive friend, blending candid commentary with heartfelt wishes for her happiness.
