Coronation Street legend Beverley Callard has opened up about a fresh health scare as she continues her battle with cancer. The 69-year-old actress, best known for playing Liz McDonald, revealed she is undergoing tests for a suspected blood clot in her right leg.
In an emotional Instagram update, Callard explained that she had been experiencing significant pain and visited her GP, who suspected a blood clot—a known risk for cancer patients and those who have undergone surgery. She is due to have further tests at hospital, followed by an appointment with her radiotherapist.
Despite the setback, Callard shared some positive news: she received a new script for her return to Coronation Street at the end of next week. She expressed excitement about going back to work, calling the scripts 'fantastic'.
The actress, who revealed her cancer diagnosis in January, has been candid about her emotional struggles. Earlier this week, she admitted to 'completely crashing' after catching sight of her body in the mirror, feeling like a 'freak'. She acknowledged that many people are worse off but said she struggled to cope in that moment.
Callard, who appeared on I'm A Celebrity...Get Me Out Of Here! before her diagnosis, has received an outpouring of support from fans. She thanked them for their 'wonderful messages' and said she is trying to stay positive.
