George Clooney has said he has no regrets about leaving Los Angeles for a quieter life in France, where his eight-year-old twins have a 'much better life'. The 64-year-old actor lives on a farm in Provence with his wife Amal and their children Ella and Alexander.
In an interview with Esquire, Clooney described how his family life in France mirrors his own childhood on a farm. 'They're not on their iPads, you know? They have dinner with grown-ups and have to take their dishes in. They have a much better life,' he said.
Clooney bought the 425-acre estate, which includes an 18th-century mansion, pool, tennis court and olive groves, for $8.3 million in 2021. He said he was concerned about raising his children in Los Angeles due to the 'culture of Hollywood' and constant scrutiny.
'France — they kind of don't give a s*** about fame,' he told Esquire. 'I don't want them to be walking around worried about paparazzi. I don't want them being compared to somebody else's famous kids.'
The actor, who has long been determined to keep his children out of the public eye, added that his age means his son is unlikely to be compared to him. 'By the time he actually will have done anything, I'm gonna be gumming my bread,' he joked.
