Celebrity Traitors' Strict Casting Rule Excludes Reality Stars, Leaving Charlotte Crosby Fuming
The BBC's Celebrity Traitors proved to be a massive ratings success when it aired in late 2025, captivating audiences with its blend of celebrity intrigue and psychological gameplay. However, behind the scenes, a stringent casting policy has left one prominent television personality feeling excluded and frustrated.
'No Reality Stars' Policy Bars Geordie Shore Star
Charlotte Crosby, the 35-year-old star of MTV's Geordie Shore, has publicly expressed her disappointment after learning she is ineligible to participate in the celebrity edition of the hit show. Speaking candidly to The Sun, Crosby confirmed that producers enforce a strict "no reality stars" rule for contestants.
"I would love to do that, but you do know they've got a no reality rule. That is a genuine fact," Crosby stated. "My agent is on the line and he will confirm. They take no reality stars. A lot of shows have this rule."
The television personality, known for her outspoken nature, humorously added that she would eagerly join "with my f*****g cloak" if the rule were ever relaxed. She drew parallels with ITV's I'm A Celebrity...Get Me Out Of Here!, suggesting that such programmes often start with similar restrictions before eventually broadening their casting net when seeking bigger names.
Alan Carr's Accidental Victory Revelation
The first series of Celebrity Traitors was won by comedian and television presenter Alan Carr, who masterfully deceived his fellow celebrities in the atmospheric Scottish castle under the watchful eye of host Claudia Winkleman. In a recent interview with Radio 2's Scott Mills, Carr revealed an amusing behind-the-scenes moment where he nearly spoiled his own triumph.
While filming another project in the Scottish Highlands shortly after Celebrity Traitors wrapped, a camera operator congratulated Carr, prompting the comedian to mistakenly assume his victory had been revealed. "The cameraman goes: 'Congratulations' and I go: 'How did you know I won?' He said: 'I didn't'," Carr recounted. "So I told them within 12 hours that I had won The Traitors."
Carr described hastily attempting to backtrack by claiming he was "joking and teasing," adding: "I had to backtrack, because you can't tell anything. But I did well, and I didn't want to spoil it."
New Series in Development with A-List Targets
With a new series of Celebrity Traitors reportedly in development, speculation is mounting about which celebrities might next enter the deceptive world of the Scottish castle. Industry insiders suggest that Alison Hammond, the popular This Morning presenter, sits at the top of producers' wish lists, alongside Danny Dyer, the renowned EastEnders actor.
Alex Apati of Ladbrokes commented to The Mirror: "Celebrity Traitors chiefs have a lot to live up to after the resounding success of series one, and if the latest odds are anything to go by, we could be in for another A-list line-up."
The show's continued popularity highlights the enduring appeal of its format, which pits celebrities against each other in a high-stakes game of deception and strategy, even as its casting policies generate controversy and debate within the entertainment industry.
