Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet had a sweet reaction to being reunited with their paternal grandfather, King Charles, during their visit to the UK last week, according to an insider. The two young royals traveled to Britain with their mother, Meghan Markle, on July 10 and met the King later that day at Highgrove House.
Children 'Totally Awestruck' by Royal Meeting
Speaking to Women's Day, a source said Archie, five, and Lilibet, four, were "totally awestruck" by everything they witnessed during the meeting with King Charles and Queen Camilla. The insider noted that the encounter has "really opened the door for Harry to tell them more about their heritage and what it means to be a part of the monarchy."
Archie was born in the UK in 2019 and spent little time with the King before moving to the US with Prince Harry and Meghan. Lilibet, born in California in 2021, made her first visit to Britain in 2022, where she met the King during the late Queen's Platinum Jubilee celebrations.
Harry Thrilled to Share Heritage
The insider added that Prince Harry is "thrilled" to be telling his children about their British heritage and royal background. "He's not bombarding them with too much information but he does want them to appreciate their lineage and what it means to be in the line of succession, that it's something they can be proud of," the source said.
However, a friend close to Harry and Meghan told HELLO! that the children have "no concept" about the status of their royal relatives. "The truth is they don't really have any concept about who they [the Royal Family] are," the friend said, adding that Harry and Meghan "are very good at keeping them away from it all so they live as normal little kids."
