Strictly Come Dancing: Countryfile's Anita Rani Tipped to Replace Tess and Claudia
Anita Rani tipped to host Strictly Come Dancing

The search for new hosts of Strictly Come Dancing has taken an intriguing turn, with a former professional dancer putting forward a surprising candidate. As current presenters Tess Daly and Claudia Winkleman prepare to step down at the end of the 2025 series, speculation is rife about who will fill their shoes.

From Dance Partner to Potential Host

Gleb Savchenko, who competed on the BBC dance show in 2015, has publicly endorsed his former celebrity partner, Anita Rani, for the coveted presenting role. The pair famously reached the semi-finals during their stint on the programme. Since then, Rani has continued her prominent role as a presenter on BBC's Countryfile and is currently starring in Celebrity Race Across The World.

In a recent interview, Savchenko was unequivocal in his support. "Put Anita Rani as the host!" he declared. "She's funny and cool, a good person." He was quick to pay tribute to the outgoing duo, Tess and Claudia, acknowledging they are "part of the brand," but insisted Rani has the right qualities for the job.

Savchenko's Bold Judging Suggestions

The former pro didn't stop at suggesting a new host. He also called for the return of two controversial former professionals as guest judges. James Jordan and Brendan Cole received his backing for a spot on the panel.

"Bring back James Jordan!" Savchenko urged. "He’ll be unhinged, telling what it is... He’s got a great personality, the guy has danced all of his life, so he knows exactly what he’s talking about. Brendan Cole also – bring him back." Interestingly, James Jordan has himself previously suggested he could return as a judge, proposing that current judge Anton Du Beke should instead become a host.

The End of an Era and the Show Goes On

The hosting shake-up was set in motion earlier this year when Daly and Winkleman announced they would be leaving their roles after the 2025 series concludes. Their departure marks the end of a long-running partnership that has become synonymous with the show. Other names rumoured to be in the frame include Holly Willoughby, Bradley Walsh, and former contestant Alex Jones.

While the future hosting line-up remains uncertain, the current series is racing towards its climax. The show is currently in its Musicals Week, which aired on Saturday 6 December 2025. The remaining couples performed routines inspired by famous musicals such as The Phantom of the Opera and Sweet Charity, alongside a special group opening number.

As the speculation continues, all eyes will be on BBC executives to see who they choose to lead the nation's favourite dance competition into its next chapter.
