Amanda Bynes Shows Dramatic Weight Loss During Casual Los Angeles Outing
Former child star Amanda Bynes stepped out on Tuesday afternoon looking noticeably thinner than ever before as she enjoyed some treats on the westside of Los Angeles. The 39-year-old actress, best known for roles in Easy A and What A Girl Wants, has publicly admitted to losing over 30 pounds through the use of a new weight loss drug, after previously reaching 180 pounds at her heaviest.
Casual Style and Expert Analysis
Bynes was dressed casually in a sleeveless T-shirt and pale blue denim jeans with a white lace overlay that hung loosely on her frame as she treated herself to ice cream at Millet Crepe on Sawtelle Boulevard. She was accompanied by her boyfriend, Los Angeles resident Zachary Khan, whom she has been dating for several months.
Functional nutritionist Monica Partier told Daily Mail that the movie star appears to be losing weight weekly, making her overall transformation particularly dramatic. "She appears about five pounds thinner than she did last month, which means her weight loss drugs are really working for her," Partier explained. "I would put her overall annual weight loss at 35 pounds and guess she is now a size four."
Medication Effectiveness and Healthy Habits
Partier noted that not all weight loss medications work equally well for everyone, emphasizing that success depends on both the drug and the individual. "Clearly, the drugs Amanda is using are a good fit. She also looks healthy with glowing skin which suggests she is eating right," the nutritionist observed. "And because there is no extra skin on her arms or around her neck, she is likely working out often to tighten up as she loses weight. It looks like she is doing all the right things."
If Bynes continues her current approach, she could potentially maintain her weight loss even after discontinuing medication. Partier added, "As long as she is eating high-protein, vegetable-loaded meals with little processed foods, little dairy and hardly any sugar, she should be able to stay slender once she quits the medication. There is a way to maintain the weight loss, she just needs to be diligent."
Public Admissions and Weight Loss Journey
In December, Bynes revealed on her Instagram Stories that she had shed 28 pounds using Ozempic, sharing a photo with the caption: "I usually don't like paparazzi pictures bc I was 180lbs but now I've lost 28lbs on ozempic! I'm down to 152lbs. I know I still look big but this photo is really inspiring to me!"
Earlier in June 2025, the actress, who stepped away from showbiz over a decade ago due to personal struggles including addiction to ADHD medication Adderall, announced in a video that she was turning to the weight-loss drug to reach her goal of 130 pounds. "I'm going on Ozempic. So excited. I'm 173 now so I hope to get down to like 130, which would be awesome so I look better in paparazzi pictures," she explained on Instagram.
Previous Weight Fluctuations and Career Context
Bynes rose to fame in the early 2000s through her comedic role on the WB sitcom What I Like About You and several teen-oriented films including Hairspray, Big Fat Liar, and Easy A. Her career was interrupted by personal challenges, beginning with a 2012 arrest in West Hollywood for driving under the influence after her BMW sideswiped a police car.
In March 2024, Bynes shared on Instagram that she had gained more than 20 pounds due to depression, stating: "I'm doing a lot better now and have learned to do opposite action when I don't feel like working out or eating clean. I weigh 162 lbs. right now and want to get back to 110 lbs." She had previously expressed a desire to return to her teenage weight of 110 pounds.
Last year, the actress announced she was launching an OnlyFans account, clarifying: "Disclaimer: I'm doing OnlyFans to chat with my fans through DMs. I won't be posting any sleazy content." The platform, while popular with adult content creators, is also used by various other creators for direct fan engagement.
