Disabled Artist Alison Lapper and Si Clift Separate After Son's Death

Disabled artist Alison Lapper and her fiancé Si Clift have separated following the death of their son Parys, aged 19. The couple, who were together for over two decades, confirmed their split in a statement.

Parys, who was born with shortened legs and no arms like his mother, died earlier this month. He was the subject of a famous Trafalgar Square sculpture of his pregnant mother, unveiled in 2005.

In a Facebook post, Mr Clift described Parys as a "mischievous, generous, kind, loving, frustrating, cheeky, forgiving, beautiful boy". He also appealed to bikers to escort Parys on his final journey to Worthing Crematorium on Thursday.

Mr Clift said he and Ms Lapper had been "blown away" by people's kindness and overwhelmed by messages of support. He added: "Please take away from this a realisation that you are not alone, that you can talk and not to hold things within."

Ms Lapper co-hosted the 2016 BBC Four show No Body's Perfect with fashion photographer Rankin. Parys also appeared on the BBC series Child Of Our Time, which tracked millennial babies from infancy into young adulthood.
