Excitement is building for the new season of Strictly Come Dancing, as Doctor Who star Alex Kingston becomes the latest big name to join the 2024 line-up.
The 60-year-old actress, best known for playing the enigmatic River Song in the long-running sci-fi series, will trade the TARDIS for the ballroom when the BBC show returns this autumn.
A Strictly Superfan Steps Into the Spotlight
Kingston is no stranger to the Strictly ballroom, having been a devoted viewer for years. 'I've watched Strictly for as long as I can remember,' she revealed. 'Seeing close friends take part over the years has only deepened my love for the show.'
The actress follows in the footsteps of fellow Doctor Who alumni including Catherine Tate and Peter Davison, who have previously competed in the glittering dance competition.
From Sci-Fi to Sequins
While Kingston is best known for her dramatic roles in shows like ER and Doctor Who, she's no stranger to performance. The actress trained at London's prestigious Royal Academy of Dramatic Art and has extensive stage experience.
'I'm equal parts excited and terrified,' Kingston admitted about her upcoming Strictly debut. 'But I can't wait to challenge myself and learn something completely new.'
