UK Broadband Firm G.Network Rescued From Administration Debt-Free
G.Network Saved From Administration, Now Debt-Free Under New Owner

A significant UK broadband provider has been successfully rescued from administration, emerging completely debt-free under new ownership. G.Network, which was plunged into administration earlier this year, has now completed a financial reorganisation and is owned by FitzWalter Capital, marking a dramatic turnaround for the company.

Rescue Bid Abandoned Due to Rodent Damage

Earlier rescue attempts had been abandoned when broadband competitor Community Fibre considered acquiring G.Network's assets but pulled out due to concerns about extensive damage to fibre cables caused by rodents. Community Fibre's CEO Graeme Oxby explained to the Telegraph that the rescue would not proceed partly because of the high costs associated with repairing the damaged infrastructure, noting that "rodents like ducts and they like fibres which are very tasty."

New Ownership and Leadership Structure

This week, it was confirmed that G.Network has emerged from administration debt-free and is now under the ownership of FitzWalter Capital, with fresh capital supporting its operations. Co-founder David Sangster has been reappointed as chief executive officer, replacing former Openreach executive Kevin Murphy, who led the company for three and a half years until its sale.

Andrew Gray, Partner at FitzWalter Capital, stated: "G.Network enters this next chapter debt-free and well capitalised, with a team that has delivered strong operational performance. We look forward to partnering with David and the entire G.Network team to accelerate the commercialisation of the network and establish G.Network as a leading challenger in UK fibre."

Strong Operational Foundation and Growth

David Sangster emphasised the company's strengths, saying: "G.Network has always had an outstanding network at its core, and a dedicated team, many of whom have contributed to the creation of the business. G.Network continued to grow during its short period of administration, and now that period is over, we can build on those foundations. We are looking forward to bringing our unrivalled asset and outstanding service to our partners and customers in London."

Extensive Infrastructure and Market Position

G.Network's infrastructure currently passes more than 420,000 premises across central London, one of the most commercially competitive fibre markets globally. The firm services approximately 25,000 customers, positioning it as a key player in the UK broadband sector despite recent challenges.

The successful rescue and debt-free emergence highlight the resilience of the company and the confidence of its new owners in its future prospects, ensuring continuity for thousands of customers and maintaining competition in London's broadband market.
