Mourners dressed in yellow gathered to say an emotional goodbye to a "beautiful brave" six-year-old girl who always wore a smile. Bonnie-Leigh Angela Spence died on July 29 following a battle with a rare form of cancer.
Cancer battle and treatment
Bonnie was diagnosed with terminal rhabdoid sarcoma cancer after a lump developed on her arm. As well as undergoing chemotherapy and radiotherapy at the Royal Victoria Infirmary (RVI) in Newcastle, Bonnie had her left arm amputated during treatment.
Despite intensive treatments, the youngster, from Consett, County Durham, was remembered for having a "beautiful smile" with her through everything.
Funeral service at Mountsett Crematorium
As dozens of people gathered at Mountsett Crematorium in Dipton for Bonnie's funeral service on Friday, the celebrant opened by saying: "Although Bonnie's life was far too short, it was a life filled with an extraordinary amount of love." She was also described as a "fun-loving, adventurous, determined" little girl who loved being outdoors.
In a reading, Bonnie's mum Zoey said her daughter was kind and caring and brought people together, adding: "She is and always will be my beautiful brave Bonnie."
