Virgin Media has confirmed it is adding Tennis Channel to its lineup, providing UK households with a new 24/7 channel dedicated to the sport at no extra cost. The channel will offer live on-court action, exclusive interviews, magazine shows, and classic matches from major tournaments such as the US Open and Australian Open.
What the channel offers
Viewers can rewatch memorable moments from tennis’ biggest stages, including the Grand Slams. The Davis Cup, Billie Jean King Cup, ATP Challenger Tour, and Ultimate Tennis Showdown (UTS) tournament are all set to be shown live on the channel.
Richard Vivian, Director of Programming and Value-Added Services at Virgin Media O2, said the upgrade is set to be a smash hit with tennis-lovers. He said: “Tennis continues to captivate audiences around the world, and this new streaming channel gives our customers even more ways to stay connected to the sport they love.”
How to access the channel
The upgrade will be automatically added, with no need for customers to take action. The new addition is only available for Virgin TV360 and Flex customers, who can tune in by heading to channel 542 via their set-top box.
“Available 24/7 at no extra cost, Virgin TV customers can switch onto live tournaments and exclusive content as well as must-watch tennis content they won’t find anywhere else,” Vivian added.
Partnership and expansion
Andy Reif, Senior Vice President International and Programming at Tennis Channel, said: “We’re thrilled to bring world-class tennis coverage to millions of UK fans through this new partnership with Virgin Media O2.”
“This marks another milestone in Tennis Channel’s ongoing international growth and reinforces our commitment to delivering the best tennis coverage to fans everywhere.”
The Tennis Channel joins the 40 streaming channels already available on Virgin TV. Virgin Media said it plans to continue to evolve its offering with additional channels.
