Country-pop artist Twinnie has revealed her essential festival survival tips, and she admits she's more of a "festival grandma" than a party queen. The singer, set to perform at The Long Road Festival later this month, confessed she rarely attends music festivals unless she's on the lineup, but insists there are a few must-haves for any festival-goer.
Twinnie's Festival Essentials
Speaking to the Daily Star, Twinnie laughed: "Make sure you have sunscreen if it's hot, that's one for me, for sure. I don't really, this is so weird, but I don't really go to festivals unless I'm playing them."
She performed at Glastonbury last year and said: "I played Glasto last year and then spent the rest of the time when I wasn't performing being a fan, and that was amazing. But I feel like at a festival you just gotta take a little backpack and your essentials, especially if it's warm, and stay hydrated. I'm not that cool, I'm like a grandma saying, 'Keep hydrated, wear sunscreen'."
Meeting Point Advice
The former Hollyoaks actress, 39, also shared a trick she swears by to avoid festival chaos: "You've got to make a meeting point. Just in case you get lost, that is a really good one because the phone signal is always not great. So if you have a little meeting spot and one of you gets lost, then at least you have that spot."
Upcoming Performance and New Single
Twinnie will put her advice into practice when she takes the stage at The Long Road Festival, performing tracks including her upcoming new single, 'Wild One'. The empowering anthem reflects the message that has shaped much of her career, with the Yorkshire-born singer determined not to let anyone put her in a box.
She explained: "I really want to live a full life. There are so many inspirational women I look up to like Dolly Parton and Cher. I just live in this world that anything is possible. I mean, I am from Yorkshire, I do country-pop music - even my music doesn't fit in the traditional mould of country. I have always been an artist to really celebrate people being themselves, being truthful and not settling."
She added: "We're only here once, so as long as you're not hurting anybody, you can live the life you want to live. I just like to be myself and I think when you shine your own light, you give others permission to shine their light."
The Long Road Festival takes place August 27-30 with The Shires, Ronnie Wood and his band, Maren Morris and more on the bill.
