Singer Molly Jenner Dies at 25, Days After Cancer Diagnosis

Beloved British singer Molly Jenner has died at the age of 25, just days after being diagnosed with cancer. The devastated fiancée of the performer, who went by the stage name Monarkki, has spoken out about the tragic loss.

Sudden Illness and Diagnosis

Molly Jenner, who performed alongside her fiancée Lily Monarch as Monarkki, initially believed she had a chest infection. According to People, on April 18, she collapsed suddenly and was rushed to the hospital. Tests revealed a 10cm mass in her chest, but doctors could not immediately determine if it was cancerous. Weeks later, Jenner was diagnosed with lymphoma, a blood cancer that develops in the lymphatic system.

Monarch shared that Jenner took the news relatively well. “She was upset at first. When I got called to the hospital the day she got the diagnosis, she was in a side room, and she cried in my arms,” Monarch said. “But after getting the emotion out, we started to form a plan on how she was going to beat the cancer, as we were always a couple that balanced each other out during times of adversity. After that, she had this truly inspirational determination to beat the cancer, and she wasn’t going to let it hold her back.”

Rapid Decline and Heartbreaking Loss

Jenner died just 10 days after her diagnosis, and only one day before she was scheduled to begin chemotherapy. In a tragic twist, she did not get the chance to start her fight against the disease. Monarch added, “This was the first health thing she ever had. Up until this point, she never even needed a prescription for anything. I’m heartbroken; the circumstances kill me every time I think about them.”

The couple had been planning to perform in Finland later this year, but sadly never got the opportunity. Lily, who is now searching for a job, said Molly’s death has left her “in ruins” financially, prompting her to set up a GoFundMe page to help “rebuild her life.” More than £2,887 has been raised of the £3,300 target at the time of writing.
