Prince William has been named the Royal who best represents the Royal Family in a new poll by Express readers. The poll, which ran from 7am on Tuesday (August 11) until 11am on Thursday (August 13), was completed by 2,421 readers.
William Tops the Poll
Prince William took first place with 790 votes, narrowly beating Princess Anne, who came second with 773 votes. Princess Catherine followed in third with 489 votes, and King Charles came fourth with 211 votes.
The royals with the lowest scores were the Duke of Gloucester (four votes), Prince George (six votes), and Prince Louis (seven votes). Prince Harry came in fifth place with 40 votes, while Meghan Markle came in seventh with 16 votes.
Anne's Strong Showing
Princess Anne, who is celebrating her 76th birthday today, coming second is a surprise, considering she is widely celebrated as the hardest-working royal, frequently topping the annual Court Circular tallies with hundreds of official engagements. While King Charles narrowly edged ahead in total engagements for 2025 (535 to Anne's 478), Anne has historically held the top spot for decades, completing over 11,000 engagements between 2002 and 2022.
Meghan Markle's 16 votes put her just behind Duchess Sophie (28 votes) and ahead of Queen Camilla and Princess Charlotte (14 votes). Behind them are the Duke of Kent (11 votes), Prince Edward (10 votes), and the Duchess of Gloucester (eight votes).
YouGov Poll Confirms Popularity
This comes after a recent YouGov poll, which ran between July 21 and 22, saw Prince William crowned the most popular member of the Royal Family. Three-quarters (76%) of those polled have a favourable opinion of William. It also shows that 16% have an unfavourable opinion, with 8% voting that they 'don't know' how they feel about the future monarch.
Just missing out on the top spot was Princess Catherine, who has a 74% favourable opinion from Britons. Prince Harry and Meghan Markle also feature in the poll, despite not being working members of the Royal Family since 2020. The poll shows that Harry is favoured by just 29% of Britons, whilst Meghan is liked by just 22%.
The recent YouGov poll also showed that the most disliked royal is still disgraced Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor, who lost his titles and honours last year over his connection to late sex offender Jeffrey Epstein. The poll shows that 92% of Britons see Andrew in an unfavourable light.
