Pete Wicks has addressed speculation about marriage to Olivia Attwood, saying the couple are happy but brushing off questions about wedding bells. Speaking to the Mirror, the 37-year-old said they have been dating only a few months, yet people are already asking when they will marry.
“You wouldn't normally ask that to anyone that's a new couple but Liv and I have been in the game long enough to just kind of brush it off,” he said. “We're happy, we're good. That's kind of all that matters.”
Career Highs and Personal Life
Wicks, who first rose to fame on The Only Way Is Essex in 2015, was speaking the morning after his podcast Pete Wicks' Man Made won two awards at the British Podcast Awards, including best interview podcast. He said he was “off drinking at the minute” and went home to his dog instead of partying.
He and Olivia, 35, began dating after her split from footballer Bradley Dack in January. Speculation grew when they were photographed kissing in March, and they made their relationship Instagram official during a holiday in Ibiza in July.
“It's been a couple of months but according to some we've launched more times than NASA,” he said. “But we're together, and it's great. It's lovely.” He praised Olivia’s work ethic, saying, “I don't know anyone that works as hard as Liv.”
Dogs and New Projects
Wicks is particularly proud of Pete Wicks: For Dogs' Sake, which has returned for a fourth series. The show follows the rehabilitation of abandoned animals at Dogs Trust and has won awards including Best Popular Factual Programme at the Broadcast Digital Awards.
In the latest series, the programme followed four dogs rescued from a house where more than 250 poodle-crosses were found in January. Wicks described them as “the most shut-down dogs I've ever seen,” adding, “It's likely that they were born within that house and probably never left that house.” Cameras were installed in a room so he and a behaviourist could work quietly with the frightened animals.
He said, “For the first few times, they just would not come out of the corners, would not come near me. They wouldn't eat. It was heartbreaking.” He would not reveal whether the dogs were rehomed but promised viewers would see a considerable change. “I would do this show till I die if they let me,” he said.
Starmer Interview and Future Plans
His Man Made podcast secured an interview with Sir Keir Starmer at Downing Street last November, during which the former Prime Minister became emotional discussing his brother Nick’s death. Wicks said, “Whatever your kind of political agenda is, behind that is still a man.”
Next, he and Sam Thompson will host a new ITV series on men's health and wellbeing trends, including biohacking and looksmaxxing. Wicks admitted he has “probably abused my body quite heavily the last 20 years,” but said he is learning every week. He concluded, “I'm really fortunate. There's not many people, I think, that can say that they go to work and genuinely love what they do.”
