Parnells Sports Bar, a fixture on South Road in Waterloo for 17 years, is set to close its doors and "return with a new idea." The venue, known for live entertainment and sports, announced its final day will be Sunday, August 9.
Family-run Venue Thanks Community
In a Facebook post, the bar said: "For seventeen years Parnells has been owned and operated by the same family and has seen great success and some big lows like the pandemic that has unfortunately seen hospitality rocked to its core and has yet to recover."
The post continued: "It has served as a great bar for South Road for this whole time and we thank you all for making that possible. With that being said, we acknowledge that it is time for something fresh and different."
Plans for a Fresh Start
The venue stated: "Sunday the 9th of August will be the last day that Parnells will serve South Road and we will return with a new idea and a great commitment to bring something new and fun to the road."
It added: "South Road was once a great community for the hospitality sector and we look forward to helping bring it back to where it once was."
