The Duchess of Sussex shared a warm moment with pregnant singer Pia Toscano at a charity gala in Canada, offering her congratulations and advice. The interaction took place at the David Foster Foundation event, which the Duke and Duchess of Sussex attended over the weekend.
Duchess Meets Pregnant Singer
After Toscano performed the song "Feeling Good" in front of the crowd, she approached Harry and Meghan, who were seated at the head table. The Duchess spoke to her about her pregnancy and offered her congratulations.
Toscano told Page Six that Meghan was quick to offer a hug before saying: "This is the most beautiful time of your life." The singer also said that Harry offered to move a chair for her.
Meghan on Motherhood
Meghan has spoken proudly about being a mum to Archie, 7, and Lilibet, 5, in previous interviews. Most recently, she described motherhood as a "superpower," adding that her daughter inspires her to be brave during moments of self-doubt.
Meghan made these comments while answering questions from youngsters to promote "Cookie Queens," the latest documentary from Archewell Productions. In a Q&A video with InStyle, she was asked what she believed her superpower to be. She replied: "Being a mum." She explained: "I feel like we have superpowers because we juggle it all and enjoy it all with grace and grit at the same time." When asked what makes her feel brave, she said: "Every day, when I feel a little bit like, 'Oh gosh, can I do this?' I go: 'Lili would do it.'"
Behind-the-Scenes Moments
Meghan shared a series of videos and photos from the gala evening on Instagram, including behind-the-scenes footage of them walking through a corridor lined with pipers and drummers wearing traditional kilts. In the video, she said: "My husband loves bagpipes!" and added: "Oh my god, this is amazing!" Harry joked with the musicians, asking: "Where are mine?" before correcting himself to say "pipes and drums."
Meghan also shared a selfie of her and Harry smiling, with Meghan wearing a black one-shoulder evening gown by Canadian designer Greta Constantine, her signature slicked-back bun, and diamond earrings that previously belonged to Princess Diana. Harry wore a tuxedo for the formal event.
