Meghan Markle, the Duchess of Sussex, has been criticized by a prominent US political figure after her Netflix series With Love, Meghan earned a Daytime Emmy nomination. The show, which launched its first season in 2025 alongside her lifestyle brand As Ever, was nominated in the outstanding lifestyle programme category.
Political Advisor Calls Emmys 'Rigged'
Katie Miller, a political advisor who has served as communications director for the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), press secretary for Vice President Mike Pence, and spokeswoman for the Department of Homeland Security, took to X to voice her disapproval. She wrote: 'Further proof the Emmys are rigged. Emmys used to signal talent, hard work and entertainment — not empty virtue signalling.'
There is currently no evidence of impropriety in the Emmy nominations process. The Daily Express has approached organizers for comment.
Nomination Sparks Backlash
The nomination has drawn criticism from royal watchers and fans, with some labeling the show a 'boring slog.' With Love, Meghan will compete against NBC's George to the Rescue, Hallmark's The Motherhood, The Wizard of Paws, and A Different Breed. Winners will be announced at the Hollywood Palladium in Los Angeles on October 30.
The show, which ran for two seasons and a special, featured guest appearances from Mindy Kaling, Tan France, and Chrissy Teigen, focusing on gardening, cooking, and lifestyle topics.
Other Daytime Emmy Nominees
In other categories, The Young and the Restless led the daytime drama field with 18 nominations, followed by CBS's Beyond the Gates with 15 and General Hospital with 13. Actresses Drew Barrymore and Kelly Clarkson will compete for Outstanding Daytime Talk Series alongside The View, Live with Kelly and Mark, Today with Jenna and Friends, and 3rd Hour of Today.
