Sharon Gaffka, a former star of Love Island, has announced the birth of her first child, a baby boy, with partner Matthew Torbitt. The couple shared the news on Instagram on Friday, July 17, 2026, with a series of adorable snaps showing the newborn sleeping peacefully in a puppy-patterned baby grow.
Cheeky Football Reference in Announcement
In the caption, Gaffka made a playful dig at England's national football team, writing: "Football might not have come home, but someone else did." This reference alludes to the popular football anthem "Football's Coming Home" and the team's recent performance.
Outpouring of Congratulations
The announcement was met with an outpouring of love from fans and fellow Love Island alumni. Paige Thorne, who appeared on the same 2021 series, commented: "Congratulations! Hope you guys have the happiest memories." Liberty Poole added: "Congratulations, he's gorgeous." Other former Islanders including India Reynolds and Joanna Chimonides also sent their best wishes.
Previous Comments on Birth Plan
Last month, Gaffka revealed her decision to have a planned C-section, despite doctors advising she was suitable for a vaginal birth. Speaking on Vanessa Feltz's Channel 5 show, she explained: "I don't want some of these stories to play out in my birthing plan." She noted that midwives were initially reluctant but added: "I'm not one of those people to change my mind or budge once I've made my mind up. I've been very fortunate that the regular midwife I had has supported me through that."
From Love Island to Motherhood
Gaffka rose to fame on the 2021 series of Love Island before being eliminated. Since then, she has ventured into politics and began a relationship with Matthew Torbitt. The couple have not yet revealed the baby's name.
