Mark Wright has revealed he could be out of action for three months due to a series of injuries, including a back fracture. The reality star and presenter, 39, 'heard a pop' around five weeks ago but dismissed the pain as a muscle issue. However, things turned out to be much worse than he initially thought, as shown in an ultrasound.
Training Too Hard
The ex-Towie personality now realises he's been 'training too hard', having also fractured his rib mere months ago. While the extent of his back fracture is yet to be determined, Mark has admitted that the situation is 'not looking good'.
Taking to Instagram on his page dedicated to golf, Mark began to his followers: You've probably been thinking, “Where's he been? Where's the golf content?” Well, remember that stress fracture I had on my rib, on the right side, a couple of months back?
'About five weeks ago I felt a pop, or a tear, in my back, and I just thought it was a muscular thing. But five weeks on, and it's not better, so I went for an ultrasound scan last night, and it looks like I've got another fracture.'
Devastating Year
He went on to say that he thinks he sustained both fractures 'at the same time', having been in pain since February, all the while he's still been golfing. 'So, I'm here about to have a CT scan to see the results; it's not looking good,' he added in his video from the hospital.
'It's been a devastating year, but that's what you get, I suppose, for training – doing too much, trying to get down too quick.' Going forward, he understands that he needs to 'manage his body', and if his back fracture is 'deep', it could take 12 weeks until he's back to normal. Mark stated that he's 'absolutely gutted'.
Golfing Goals
In his caption, he shared additional details on how he's dealing with the setback of two stress fractures. 'The chances of hitting 4.0 by the time I turn 40 in January, is now looking slim after having months out,' he shared. 'I keep coming back too early. I'm hoping in a couple of weeks when I'm back 🤞 that's the end of it and I can push right through until Jan, to see how close I can get. I cannot wait to be back out on the course.'
'It's been a tough time considering golf makes me very happy and is my real release,' added the keen golfer. 'Anyone else struggling with injury's right now, you've got this!! Hang on in there 🙌👍🏻 [sic]'
Mark was flooded with well-wishes for a 'speedy recovery' in the comments. The radio host is married to actress Michelle Keegan, also 39, whom he wed in 2015. Together they have a daughter, Palma, born last March, and live in a £3.5million mansion in Essex, for which they documented the renovations online.
Former Coronation Street star Michelle is currently filming for upcoming Netflix drama The Woods from acclaimed author Harlan Coben. She's already taken the lead in one of his small-screen adaptations in the globally successful Fool Me Once from 2023.
In recent months, reports claimed that Mark felt he was 'living in Michelle's shadow' as her career reaches new heights; she is said to have raked in £5m last year. However, Mark continues to shout about his love for her on social media, sharing a sweet video of their daughter just weeks ago.
The text across it read, 'They tell you nothing prepares you for loving your daughter this much… but they never met her mum.' He added in the caption: 'This love hurts 🩷' And in June, when Michelle celebrated her 39th birthday, he joked alongside a series of throwback snaps that she 'doesn't look a day over 21'. 'You're too modest to realise how much of a special person you are, but what you do for us and everyone around you is more than you'll ever realise,' he added.
