Manchester United's representatives at the World Cup experienced a mixed tournament, with injuries to Kobbie Mainoo and Lisandro Martinez marring the final weekend. United had three players involved in the final week as the club began its own pre-season campaign with a defeat to Wrexham in Helsinki. Now the focus is firmly on Carrington.

Kobbie Mainoo, Marcus Rashford and Lisandro Martinez will be due another three weeks off, but in that time the other World Cup stars will begin their return to pre-season training. With club duties back on the agenda, here is how United's players rated at the World Cup.

Manuel Ugarte: 4/10
The World Cup was a chance for Ugarte to put himself in the shop window and secure a move away from United, but it has not gone to plan. Uruguay were dumped out with a 1-0 defeat to Spain, and Ugarte was forced off with an injury that could end his chances of a move if serious.
Altay Bayindir: 5/10
Turkey were touted as dark horses but lost their opening two matches to Australia and Paraguay to be one of the first teams eliminated. A late winner against the USA in their final game ensured they returned home with a win. Bayindir was an unused substitute throughout.
Tyler Fletcher: 6/10
A late call-up to the Scotland squad points to how highly regarded the United prospect is. It was always going to be a tournament of experience for the midfielder, and he did not get off the bench as Scotland bowed out in the group stage. However, he looked to have benefited from the experience with a classy display in Helsinki on Saturday.
Amad: 8/10
The tournament ended in disappointment for Ivory Coast, but Amad emerged as one of the stars. He scored a wonderful winner against Ecuador in the opening game after coming on as a substitute, before starting the two other group games. He was surprisingly left out against Norway in the last-16 but came on to score another brilliant goal, only for Erling Haaland to score a late winner. Amad's confidence should be high now.
Matheus Cunha: 7/10
The Brazil forward had a superb group stage, scoring three times despite not starting the first game, but it fizzled a little after that. The Selecao rode their luck to get past Japan in the last-16 before going out to Norway, when Cunha was the first player replaced, going off before the hour mark with Endrick coming on.
Diogo Dalot: 5/10
Dalot is a popular member of the Portugal squad but could not force his way into the starting XI. He played 45 minutes against Colombia and then the final 19 minutes against Spain as his country went out at the last-16 stage.
Bruno Fernandes: 5/10
This felt like Fernandes' moment to shine on the world stage, but Portugal were inhibited by the presence of Cristiano Ronaldo, which constrained Fernandes as well. He laid on an assist for Ronaldo against Uzbekistan, but that was his only goal contribution in five games and he struggled to leave a mark.
Noussair Mazraoui: 7/10
Morocco went out with a whimper against France, and Mazraoui conceded a penalty in that game, but he showed his versatility playing at left-back and generally enjoyed a good tournament.
Senne Lammens: 3/10
He got the chance he was waiting for when Thibaut Courtois went off injured against Spain in the quarter-final, but the tournament ended in agony for Lammens. He spilled Pau Cubarsi's long-range shot at the feet of Mikel Merino in the 88th minute to hand Spain a winning goal.
Marcus Rashford: 7/10
An up-and-down tournament for Rashford, who scored against Croatia, forced his way past Anthony Gordon, but then lost his place again and struggled for minutes as Gordon impressed against Mexico and Norway. He got an assist in a first-half outing against France.
Kobbie Mainoo: 5/10
A tournament of disappointment for Mainoo, who forced his way into the England squad with a brilliant end to the season under Michael Carrick but then found himself frozen out by Thomas Tuchel. It was bizarre he did not get a single minute and should have come on against Norway and Argentina.
Lisandro Martinez: 8/10
An excellent tournament for the Argentine centre-back until another injury struck in the final. He left the pitch in tears towards the end of the first half. He had scored and assisted in a wild game against Cape Verde and was excellent defensively, earning a spot in the team of the tournament.
