Shenanigans, the traditional Irish pub on Tithebarn Street in Liverpool city centre, will celebrate its 30th anniversary next April. Since opening in 1997, the pub has become renowned for its Guinness, lively atmosphere, and warm welcome, attracting office workers, students, cruise ship visitors, and even celebrities.
From empty building to beloved bar
Brothers Daragh and Conor McDonald transformed the empty former Rising Sun into the welcoming Irish bar they had always imagined. Reflecting on nearly three decades behind the bar, Daragh, 55, who lives in West Kirby, said the secret has been creating "a pub for everybody" where strangers become regulars and customers return decades later with families of their own.
Memorable events and famous faces
Over the years, the pub has hosted a promotional beach party with three tonnes of sand, full moon parties, and fashion shows.
