Emmett J. Scanlan has announced that filming for the third season of the Irish crime drama Kin has officially begun. The 47-year-old actor, known for his role in Hollyoaks, will reprise his character Jimmy Kinsella in the upcoming instalment.
The series follows the Kinsellas, a fictional Dublin family embroiled in gangland war. Forced to face off against a rival cartel, the Kinsellas vow to protect all that they hold dear, portraying the unbreakable bonds of blood and family.
Scanlan's Excitement and Promise
In a video shared on Instagram, Scanlan expressed his gratitude and excitement, saying: "This has been years in the making and I'm utterly grateful that I get to finally say day one, season three of Kin, now. The feeling is good. The view from my apartment is Ireland. The view is Dublin." He added, "This journey might very well prove to be the best one yet."
Season three of Kin is slated to air in 2027.
Background and Cast
Kin first aired on RTÉ One in 2021 and quickly became one of Ireland's most-watched series. Season two followed in 2023, and the BBC acquired the show the same year. The series also stars Charlie Cox, Clare Dunne, Aidan Gillen, Maria Doyle Kennedy, and Sam Keeley.
