Jesse Metcalfe Pulls Out of Comic Con Liverpool Day Before Event
Jesse Metcalfe Pulls Out of Comic Con Liverpool at Last Minute

Comic Con Liverpool has announced a last-minute cancellation just one day before thousands of people travel to the city for the major event. The convention returns this weekend with fans ready to meet their favourite stars, including Jude Law, David Harbour and Christopher Lloyd.

In an important guest announcement shared on its Facebook page, fans were told that Jesse Metcalfe is no longer able to attend the event and that all photo and autograph opportunities will be automatically refunded by Ticket Quarter.

Actor Known for Desperate Housewives and Passions

The actor is best known for his roles as Miguel Lopez-Fitzgerald in the NBC soap Passions and John Rowland in the ABC comedy drama Desperate Housewives. Some fans may recognise him for his role as Christopher Ewing in the continuation of Dallas, or as Trace Riley in Chesapeake Shores.

Jesse was scheduled to appear at the convention tomorrow, Saturday October 10. Some fans were excited to meet the star, with one reaction to the initial announcement being "I love him in Desperate Housewives" and another adding "wait, we are finally getting some Desperate Housewives stars".

Schedule Change for Carice Van Houten

The announcement comes alongside another blow to the schedule of Comic Con this weekend. In a Facebook post, it said: "Additionally, due to a change in her schedule, Carice Van Houten will now be attending on Saturday only."

All affected customers will be contacted by Ticket Quarter and given the option to switch their photo and autograph bookings to Saturday. The post added: "We understand that guest cancellations and schedule changes, particularly so close to the event, can be frustrating. Unfortunately, these circumstances are beyond our control, and we sincerely appreciate your understanding and patience while the necessary arrangements are made. Thank you for your continued support."

Fan Reactions and Event Scale

Carice Van Houten is best known for her portrayal as Melisandre in the hit TV series Game of Thrones. She also earned widespread critical acclaim for her award-winning performance in Paul Verhoeven's Black Book in 2006.

Some fans were understanding, as one posted: "It's nice to see a celebrity being socially responsible and not pushing on and potentially infecting a large number of people." Another disappointed fan added: "Sad about Jesse, but I hope he feels better soon. Not looking forward to telling my son though when he finishes school today as he was so excited about having a photo with him, since they watched Romeo and Juliet in his English class, he's been obsessed with it."

One fan commented: "First: David Tennant, Second: Vincent D'Onofrio, Third: Oona Sinclair, Fourth: Jesse Metcalfe… please no more… I know it can't be helped. But I'm still looking forward to Jude Law, Lea Thompson, and Alan Fletcher."

Comic Con Liverpool attracts tens of thousands of fans to its biannual shows. The event is held across the entire Liverpool Experience Campus including the convention centre, exhibition centre, arena and auditorium. As well as having the chance to meet your heroes, get an item signed or a photo, many guests will also appear live on stage so fans get to hear directly about their new projects and previous roles.
