ITV has confirmed that the much-loved game show Bullseye is returning for a new series, with Freddie Flintoff once again taking the helm as host. The broadcaster announced the recommission of the darts-based programme, which also features scorer Richard Ashdown and professional darts players competing to win prizes for contestants.
Freddie Flintoff's Enthusiasm
Freddie Flintoff, the former England cricketer who has fronted recent revivals of Bullseye, expressed his excitement about the show's return. "It's great that Bullseye still has a special place in the nation's heart, as it does mine, and I loved bringing it back on TV screens," he said. "I can't wait to see what a new season brings."
History of Bullseye
Bullseye was enormously popular in the 1980s and 1990s when it was hosted by the late Jim Bowen. The show made a comeback with a Christmas episode in 2024, followed by a full series in 2025, both fronted by Flintoff. Earlier this year, a Soccer Aid charity special aired, prompting fans to call for a full series.
Fan Reactions
Fans have taken to social media to praise the show, calling it "brilliant" and the "best" game show on television. One fan declared it "the greatest British game show" ever, while another claimed no other programme in television history could compare to the darts show.
ITV Executives Weigh In
Katie Rawcliffe, ITV's director of entertainment, reality and daytime commissioning, said: "Bullseye is a cherished format which has proved incredibly popular with viewers since its return, undoubtedly helped by Freddie. We're thrilled to be bringing another series to screens later this year."
Lily Wilson, managing director at Bright Entertainment, ITV Studios' unscripted entertainment label, added: "We are thrilled to be bringing the iconic Bullseye back to British TV audiences later this year. With Freddie Flintoff equally as adored by the public, he is the perfect host for this modern take on a TV classic."
