Emmerdale Wedding Week Promises Heartbreak and Drama
Emmerdale Wedding Week Set for Heartbreak and Drama

Emmerdale fans can expect a dramatic wedding week for Dawn Fletcher and Joe Tate, with the soap's boss teasing heartbreak, tragedy, and twists.

Wedding Week Chaos

Laura Shaw, the show's producer, has confirmed that the run-up to Dawn and Joe's wedding will be far from smooth, with the wedding week itself set to be even more dramatic. Speaking at a recent press event in Leeds, she said: "Obviously, the run-up to Joe and Dawn's wedding is far from smooth! It's going to be really dramatic, there's lots going on. The wedding week itself is probably going to be even more dramatic, let's face it."

Shaw revealed that filming for the eagerly awaited scenes had just been completed, describing them as "really exciting". She added: "What I can tell you is that it's going to be one of the biggest weeks of the year for Emmerdale. It's a week of episodes [that] are going to be full of heartbreak. I mean, it's typical Emmerdale. But think stunts, heartbreak, tragedy, twists, turns - it's going to have it all. It's going to be amazing."

Ongoing Turmoil

The drama comes after Dawn's recent infidelity with Joe, which left her husband Billy devastated. Billy recently attempted to kiss Dawn, but she recoiled. Caleb Miligan told Joe about the kiss, and shortly after, Billy was attacked at the depot. While Billy remains in a coma, Joe was arrested but maintains his innocence.

Earlier this year, Shaw teased a major stunt week, telling Inside Soap: "What we're planning for the end of summer, I don't think I've seen a stunt done quite like this before, so it'll be something a little different. We have a big summer planned that's going to be a big peak for us. It's going to drop a big, massive bombshell on the village that will change lives forever, put it that way!"

Sadie King's Return

Viewers can also look forward to the return of Sadie King, played by Patsy Kensit, after 20 years. The character will reveal an "absolutely shocking" secret, which Shaw described as "one of the biggest secrets we've ever had within the King family", adding that "it's going to be pretty explosive".

Emmerdale airs weekday nights at 8pm on ITV1 and ITVX.
